Bookworms

It has been great to see some new parents and children attending Bookworms reading on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:20 to 8:40 in church. This is a great opportunity to get out of the cold and rain and provides the ideal start to the day for the children.

We would now like to extend this and welcome any child who may walk to school on their own to also attend Bookworms for a quiet reading session. This will count towards the target of reading 20 times in a month so long as they get their book signed by Mrs Brunyee or one of the supervising staff or governors to confirm their attendance. We look forward to seeing some of our older children coming to read more.

 Reading

Can we please remind all parents that there is an expectation that Reception children will read 15 times each month and all other year groups will read 20 times each month at home. PLEASE sign the reading record book each time your child reads at home as we are monitoring these  record books and children who are not on track to read regularly will do so to ‘catch up’ over their break times. We will let you know if your child is not on track to read the required number of times by sending a text message initially. Whilst we understand that many families are busy we do hope that with provision of Bookworms school is helping with this. It is vitally important that all children become good readers and we hope that 10 minutes per day is possible.

The Daily Mile

This has got off to a positive start with the children getting out and walking each morning. Please can we remind you that children need to have their coat and a water bottle in school  each day.

 Harvest Festival

Just an early mention. . .  you will have seen on your diary dates sheet that Harvest Festival will be upon us in a couple of weeks. It will be held on Thursday 5th October and all parents/carers are very welcome to join us in church for this. We will once again be joining our efforts with those of the church and collecting food for the Doncaster Food Bank. We look forward to seeing you and receiving the children’s food donations on that day . A list of items that the food bank would appreciate will be sent out nearer the time.

From our cook and kitchen staff

Just to say how well the children have done with their lunch. They have behaved well and tried the food even if they were unsure.

WELL DONE!
