Welcome to Reception!
Home Learning- w/b 22nd February 2021
Hello everyone, here are details of our home learning timetable. We have sent out our zoom link to your email. Zoom times are as follows with a task to complete which is in your learning pack.
Here is our ‘Knowledge Organiser’- please complete this with your child return to school via the FS email.
Phonics (9:25am)- Recap of set 1 sounds. Use the sound mat provided over the next two weeks as recall for the graphemes needed in writing. Your task is to read on Bug Club and complete the ‘sh’ recap sheet.
Maths (10:25am)- Numbers within 20! Count out groups of 10 to find how many are in 20. Focus on numbers 11-20 counting amounts and looking at the numeral. Use the counting sheet to accurately touch count the superheroes to 20.
Curriculum (1pm)- Superheroes! Our new theme this half term is ‘Not all heroes wear capes’ This week we will be creating our own superhero and thinking about the powers they have! Today we would like you to create your own superhero, design its costume and think about the powers it has!
Phonics (9:25am)- Continuation of recap of set 1 sounds. Describe your superhero to me using your phonics knowledge. Make sure you only write down the sounds you can hear, even if it looks different to grown ups writing!
Maths (10:25am)- Continuation of numbers within 20. We will be learning to count on from a number all the way up to 20 and represent these numbers using claps, jumps, taps etc. Complete week 1 day 2 missing numbers task.
Curriculum (1pm)- Superhero Cuffs- Create your own superhero accessories e.g. cuffs, a belt, badge etc.
Phonics (9:25am)- We have finished all of our Set 1 Sounds! We will be recapping our digraphs over the next few weeks to consolidate our learning. The learning task today is to read the Ditty ‘Sam gets a shock’ and create your own love potion for valentines day. Think about the ingredients you might need.
Maths (10:25am)- Continuation of numbers within 20. We will be looking at how an amount can look different but the number still stays the same. Compete week 1 day 3 superhero skyscraper task.
Curriculum (1pm)- Geography- Use Google Maps to search for different countries where your superhero might go to save the day!
Phonics (9:25am)- Consolidation of set 1 sounds- we will be focussing on the new digraphs from the previous weeks to write sentences and read sentences with them in.
Maths (10:25am)- Numbers within 20
Curriculum (1pm)- Choose a task from the home learning sheet on week 1 day 4, add to Tapestry.
Phonics (9:25am)- Superhero phonics!
Maths (10:25am)- Numbers within 20-
Curriculum (1pm)- History- Choose your favourite superhero costume and search how it changed over time and what it looked like in the past.

Happy 2021 to our children and families! We hope this year brings lots of happiness and positivity to us all! We are so happy to welcome you back to school with our safety measures in place. Please arrive to Reception at the allocated time, using the 2 metre distances as a guide. We will open the gate at 8:50am, ready to welcome all of the children as quickly and safely as possible. We are very excited to have an extra member of staff working with us up until Easter in our Reception classroom. Miss Morgan is continuing her teacher training with us and will be supporting the children with their learning, alongside myself & Mrs Bennett. We are looking forward to welcoming Miss Morgan to our Foundation Stage Team!
This half term we will be learning all about celebrations including New Year, Chinese New Year & lots more! We will be thinking about new vocabulary which will link to this learning as well as taking part in learning from lots of other areas of our curriculum.
Thank you everyone for working so hard to keep up to date with reading books and key ring practice. Reading books and key rings must be returned on a Friday so they can stay in a safe space over the weekend and new ones given out on a Monday. Bug club is used as an extra resources for reading at home, please continue to use reading books sent home as a priority.

Tapestry activation emails have been sent out so you can view your child’s learning online. If you haven’t received your activation email, please let a member of staff know so we can sort this out for you. We have loved seeing the observations you have been uploading from home, if you would like to have a try there are lots of tutorials below to help.
