Welcome to Nursery!
Autumn 1 Newsletter
We hope you have had a delightful summer and would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our nursery school. We are very much looking forward to meeting you all and working with your children.
The nursery session times are as follow:
Morning Nursery – 8.40-11.40am
Afternoon Nursery – 12.30-3.30pm
The doors and gates will be opened at these times and you are welcome to enter the nursery and help your child with their coat. When the children first enter the building we encourage them to self register by finding their name and placing it in the box provided. They are then free to choose whichever activity they would like to do. However, we do request that you say goodbye to your child in the cloakroom area for security reasons.
At least once every half term your child will be baking and we therefore request a small donation of £1.50 towards the cost of the ingredients; this money is due at the start of every half term or if you would prefer to pay for the year the total cost would be £9.00.
At the start of every session we like to set out the resources and equipment for the children to use, including those resources outside. We would therefore greatly appreciate it if you could prevent your child from playing with this equipment whilst waiting outside to come in.
Nursery children have the opportunity to play outside everyday and it is therefore important that they bring appropriate clothing, including a coat, hat, scarf and gloves as necessary.
Please help us by ensuring that your child is dressed in simple clothes that they can manage quickly and easily when they need to go to the toilet. Remember, sometimes busy children leave things to the last minute. If you wanted to bring a spare set of clothes in a bag, which can be hung on their peg, in case of accidents this would be welcomed. Please make sure all items of clothing, especially school jumpers and cardigans, have got your child’s name in them.
Out topic for the start of this half term is ‘Who am I?’ and we will be thinking about what we look like, who our families are and what our likes and dislikes are. We will also be organising some curriculum information meetings for parents and carers which will hopefully provide you with more information about the things we will be covering this year. We will send out more information about these meetings when the dates have been confirmed.
If you have any questions or concerns please come and speak to a member of the Nursery staff and we would like to reassure you that we will take great care of your children. Their safety and welfare is at the centre of all the decisions we make and we are very much looking forward to working with you all this year.
Here is a video explaining the phonics programme we use in our Nursery and Reception classes. It will explain how we teach children how to read and how phonics can help. If you have any questions about phonics, please come and see the class teacher.
