Welcome to Nursery

Our Teachers are:

Mrs Wenban

Mrs Barratt

Mrs Hollis

Mrs Penhallurick

Miss Margetts

Mrs Morgan

Welcome back to Nursery!  We hope you have had a lovely half term break with your families and are safe and well.  This half term our thematic unit is called “Not all heroes wear capes” and we will be finding out about some real life heroes, as well as fictional ones.  We are also very excited to be having a zoom call from the fire service and have a virtual tour of the fire station in the next couple of weeks.  If any of you would like to tell us about your jobs via zoom or know of anyone who would be willing to share a little about the things they do at work for example nurse/Dr, a police officer, shop worker anyone who’s job involves helping people in some way, please get in touch.  We would love to arrange some more zoom sessions for the children so that they can find out about these professions.

The following link is our knowledge organiser for our new theme “Not all heroes wear capes” which gives you a little more information of the vocabulary we will be learning and the things we will be covering during this learning.  There are also some questions that you might like to to discuss with your child to support their learning.

Nursery Gate

Just to remind you our doors and gates will be opened at 8.40 and 12.30 for you to drop your children off at Nursery.  However, due to the safety measures we have had to put in place, as a result of covid-19, we do ask that you say goodbye to your children at the door, once they have put their hand sanitiser on, rather than entering the nursery classroom. The nursery staff will help the children find their peg and hang their coat and bag up but we are helping the children to develop their independence by encouraging them to take their own coat off.   You can help with this by letting the children enter the building still wearing their coat rather than taking it off for them to carry in.

We will be opening our gates at 3.00pm in the afternoon as we are aware that some parent’s have other children to pick up from different classes and schools.  You are therefore welcome to pick up you children any time between 3.00 and 3.30pm.

Please help us by ensuring that your child is dressed in simple clothes that they can manage quickly and easily when they need to go to the toilet.  Remember, sometimes busy children leave things to the last minute.  If you would like to bring a spare set of clothes in a bag, which can be hung on their peg, in case of accidents this would be welcomed.  However please make sure all bags, water bottles, lunch boxes and items of clothing, especially school jumpers and cardigans, have got your child’s name in them. We have got a box in nursery with lots of cardigans and jumpers in which have no name.

Nursery children also have the opportunity to play outside everyday and it is therefore important that they bring appropriate clothing, including a coat, hat, scarf and gloves.

We are using Tapestry to create online learning journeys for the children in the foundation stage.  To find out more about Tapestry please click on the following power point presentation.
