Welcome to Nursery

Our Teachers are:

Mrs Wenban

Mrs Barratt

Mrs Hollis

Mrs Penhallurick

We hope you have had a delightful summer and would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our nursery school.  We are very much looking forward to meeting you all and working with your children.

The nursery session times are as follow:

Morning Nursery – 8.45-11.45am

Afternoon Nursery – 12.30-3.30pm

The doors and gates will be opened at these times and you are welcome to help your child find put their things on their peg before they put their hand sanitiser on and enter the nursery classroom.  However, due to the safety measures we have had to put in place, as a result of covid-19, we do ask that you say goodbye to your child at the door rather than entering the nursery classroom. When the children first enter the building we encourage them to self register by finding their name and placing it on our welcome tree and then they are free to choose whichever activity they would like to do.  We will be opening our gates at 3.15pm in the afternoon as we are aware that some parent’s have other children to pick up from different classes and schools.  You are therefore welcome to pick up you children any time between 3.15 and 3.30pm

Nursery children have the opportunity to play outside everyday and it is therefore important that they bring appropriate clothing, including a coat, hat, scarf and gloves in winter or sun hat in summer as necessary.

Please help us by ensuring that your child is dressed in simple clothes that they can manage quickly and easily when they need to go to the toilet.  Remember, sometimes busy children leave things to the last minute.  If you would like to bring a spare set of clothes in a bag, which can be hung on their peg, in case of accidents this would be welcomed.  Please make sure all bags, water bottles, lunch boxes and items of clothing, especially school jumpers and cardigans, have got your child’s name in them.

Our topic for the start of this half term is ‘Here we are?’ and we will be focusing on the story Here We Are by Oliver Jeffers.  As part of our learning we will be finding out about ourselves, our families and where we live.

We are using Tapestry to create online learning journeys for the children in the foundation stage.  To find out more about Tapestry please click on the following power point presentation.

The following guides explain how to download the Tapestry app or to login in to your account using a web browser.

The following videos show how to use tapestry and how to add observations.

Parent’s Information Meeting

This half term we will be hosting a virtual parent’s information meeting which will focus on maths in the Early Years, as well as introducing you to Tapestry.  Tapestry is an online learning journey programme that we would like to use to track your children’s achievements and progress during their time in our Foundation stage.  We will send you an email with the login details for this meeting shortly.
