Our Community Art Installation.
You will have received a letter this week telling you about our community art installation project. Every child in school has added a poppy to it and they are all busy putting the name of a fallen World War 1 soldier onto their piece of fabric to be added to the piece of work. As far as possible, the children are using the name of a soldier who shares the same surname as them. It has been amazing to realize that about 90% of children in the school have a surname that they share with one of the fallen soldiers from the Yorkshire regiment. The art work is starting to take shape and promises to look fabulous once it is completed!
Thank you to those parents and carers who came to church to join in this afternoon and add their contribution. If you haven’t managed to get in to ‘do your bit’ or know of anyone in the locality who would like to sew a name but cannot get into school please let us know and we will be able to give you the resources you need to be able to do this.
There will also be an opportunity to add to this when you come to Parents Evening.
Our school has also been asked to contribute readings and prayers written by the children which will be used as part of the remembrance service at the Edenthorpe war memorial on Sunday11th November. We will also be putting up a display of work linked to World War 1 in The Church of the Good Shepherd for November. Thanks to Mrs Brunyee who has researched and developed the idea and coordinated everyone’s contributions.
