Here comes Summer!

Finally we have had a glimpse of summer this week. Can we please remind all parents/carers that children will be outside at break and lunchtimes and therefore may need appropriate sun care.

If you are sending in sun hats please could you ensure that these are named.

If you think that your child needs sun block please can you apply this BEFORE they come to school as teaching staff do not have time to do this for everyone  during the school day .

Please ensure that your child also has a named water bottle with them each day in order that we can encourage children to drink water and remain hydrated during the warm weather.

Summer Fair

The school summer fair is fast approaching. This year it will be held from 12 noon until 3pm on Saturday 30th June.

The PTA held a planning meeting earlier this week and unfortunately there were only 4 people present. In order to run this event, which is so popular in the school community we really need more support.

The final planning meeting will be held in school at 6pm on Tuesday 8th May.

Please come along to this if you can. Alternatively, if you are unable to attend but can offer some help at any point during the day or on the day before we would be delighted to hear from you so please contact the school office to volunteer.

You don’t have to be able to help for the full day. Just a couple of hours to help with organization before the day, set up on the day, run a stall or tidy up afterwards would be greatly appreciated.

So far this year the PTA have funded the whole school Christmas activities and a gift for every child at Christmas and will also be providing juice and a bun for all the  children in years 1 to 6 to celebrate the Royal wedding. (Foundation Stage are running their separate event on this date)

Funding also supports Year 6 leavers events at the end of the year.

In addition, we are in the process of organizing for a ball wall to be built for children to use at break times and lunch times. None of these would be possible without the fund raising that the  ‘Friends of Canon Popham’ do so diligently across the year.

Please come and help if you can.
