Thanks from the Food Bank.
This week we have received a ‘Thank You’ certificate from Doncaster Food bank for the donations received from our Harvest service. We were able to send a fantastic amount of food– 264.8kg which equates to 630 meals for needy families in Doncaster! They were delighted and very grateful for the amount received. The certificate will be displayed on the information board in the main entrance.
Well Done Mrs Barratt!
AS many of you may know, Mrs Barratt ran in the Wildlife Park 5k event which was held last Sunday morning. She was sponsored by many people from our school community, with the proceeds going to the PTA climbing frame fund.
Despite the dreadful rain on the day, Mrs Barratt kept going and completed the course!
Many thanks to all those who sponsored her. If you haven’t yet done so but would like to make a contribution, or if you have not yet sent in your promised donation please can you look to do so as soon as possible. We will let you know the final total raised as soon as we have all the contributions in.
Once again, many thanks to The Friends of Canon Popham PTA who ran the school disco on Monday evening. Lots of children attended and had a great time and the money raised will also go towards the climbing frame renewal .
As Christmas is not that far away now (only 9 more Friday’s after today!) the PTA are planning the Christmas Fair. This year it will be held on Friday 30th November. There will be a PTA planning meeting on Wednesday 24th October at 6pm in the school hall. If you can help in any way please come along or let us know via the school office – there are plenty of jobs to do before, during and afterwards so please help if you can .
Operation Christmas Child
We will be launching this year’s Operation Christmas Child next week in school. Every year we try to send as many gift boxes as we can to children in countries who are less fortunate than ourselves. Look out for an information leaflet which will be coming out next week. If you can make a donation, wrap a shoe box or contribute in any way we would be very grateful.
Our school is also acting as a collection point for any completed boxes from the community. If you know of anyone who has filled a shoe box and isn’t sure where to send it, please point them in our direction. The boxes can be dropped off at the school office and will be taken from there to the centre, where they are checked and sent on to deserving recipients.
Just a reminder. . .
School will finish for the children next Thursday– 25th October for half term. Friday 26th October is a training day for the staff, who will be in school undertaking Team Teach training.
School re-opens on Monday 5th November for the second half of the Autumn term.
